Meet The New Director General of IWMI

It was a privilege to welcome Dr. Claudia Sadoff, the new International Water Management Institute’s (IWMI) Director General (DG), at our JVL Fortifer Compost Plant at Borteyman.

Dr. Sadoff was accompanied by Dr. Olufunke Cofie (The West African Head, IWMI) and Mr. Eric Nartey (Researcher, IWMI). The team was received by the Innovations Manager, Mrs. Martha A. Nartey and Ms Esther Nana Osafo (Compost Plant Supervisor).

The DG was briefed on the operations of the compost plant while given a vivid tour of the plant site by the Innovations Manager. She was highly elated and impressed with the partnership between JVL and IWMI.

Dr. Sadoff was in Ghana as part of her familiarization tour of the operational sites of IWMI in line with her taking over as the Director General of IWMI in October, 2017.

She is an economist by profession who has worked with the World Bank as the World Bank’s Global Lead for Water Security and Integrated Water Resources Management and has been a pillar in water security research and program management on several water-related policies in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

She applauded JVL for their innovation with the management of the Fortifer plant and emphasised the need for scaling up in the next couple of years.
